Whether you are looking to relax on the water; have a family day out near Glasgow or exercise along the ‘bonnie banks’ ~ Cruise Loch Lomond offer a variety of cruises on which you can escape the hustle and bustle, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the stunning scenery that is on our doorstep.

Cruises depart from a number of locations around the Loch allowing you to see the varied landscape from the water.  The dramatic northern fjord end of the Loch offers cruises in the heart of Rob Roy MacGregor country, with ruined MacFarlane strongholds on the islands and impressive Arklet Waterfalls.

New departures from Luss and Balmaha offer cruises around the island jewels in the Loch Lomond crown, and access to Inchcailloch ~ the ‘Wee Gem’.


Walking / Hiking
Get back to Nature… Scotland’s most famous long distance hiking trail ‘The West Highland Way’, passes on the east side of Loch Lomond and part of the trail can be tackled on a day trip from Callanish House you can even take a dip in the loch as part of your hike! There are abundant opportunities for walking at all levels, from short forest trails to no shortage of Mountains and Munro’s.

Our forest walks and trails offer an ideal opportunity to discover the amazing wildlife that inhabit the forest. Bring your binoculars and look out for wildlife, flora and fauna. The forests are quite literally teaming with wildlife!


If mountain biking is your forte, we have some wonderful forest trails close by. We are also 5 minutes away from the Loch Lomond Cycle Route (50 mile round trip for the adventurous) which, with both historic and picturesque stops along the way, provides an easy day out for all the family. You can also join the National Cycle Network and explore the rest of Scotland’s cycle paths.

Bike hire is available at Argarten with plenty of choice for everyone, including child bikes, tag-alongs, trailers and child seats, and of course helmets. Bikes are very popular, and so we strongly recommend pre-booking.

The West Highland rail line stops at Arrochar and Tarbet station and guests can take a memorable ride through the glorious Highland scenery to Fort William, Oban or Mallaig. We are also within comfortable driving distance of a range of tourist attractions, whatever the weather.
